Frequently Asked Questions

How much water should I drink daily?
A general guideline is 30-35 ml per kg of body weight. So a 70 kg person needs about 2.1-2.5 liters daily. This increases with exercise, hot weather, and certain health conditions.
Does tea/coffee count towards water intake?
Yes, caffeinated beverages do contribute to hydration, though plain water is best. The diuretic effect of caffeine is mild in regular drinkers. Fruits, vegetables, and soups also contribute to fluid intake.
What are signs of dehydration?
Dark yellow urine, thirst, dry mouth, fatigue, headaches, and dizziness. Your urine should be light yellow to clear. If it's darker, you likely need more water.
Can I drink too much water?
Yes, though rare. Excessive water intake can cause hyponatremia (low sodium). Drink when thirsty and don't force excessive amounts. For most people, 3-4 liters per day is the upper safe limit.
